Parish Minister's Advisory Committee

The Parish Minister's Advisory Committee serves as a committee on ministry for the Rev. Gail Seavey. It meets monthly, and encourages the congregation to be involved in this process by bringing feedback either directly to Rev. Seavey or to any member of the committee.

I was born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, and moved to Nashville via Los Angeles in 1972. After 25 years of employment in the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes in the Medical Center at Vanderbilt University, I retired as the Administrator in 1998. I am married to David Orth and have two step-daughters (Jennifer and Julie), two step-granddaughters (Sarah and Emily), and a Scottish Terrier (Charlie). My husband and I became members of FUUN in April of 2008. I am currently a greeter, a facilitator of a covenant group, and a team leader for the Herb Fair. I am looking forward to serving on the Parish Minister’s Advisory Committee.

I am honored to serve as the chair of the Parish Ministers Advisory committee.  I have been a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville since my family and I moved to Nashville in 2005.  Prior to this, I was a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Antonio, where I was active in the parenting group and taught religious education to middle school classes.  At FUUN, I have been the teacher helper in the RE classes for my children, Liam, who is 7, and Finn, who is 5, and have also been a greeter in the church.  I look forward to serving you this year and bringing your input to the committee.

This is my first year on the Parish Minister’s Advisory Committee. I joined the church when I moved from Indianapolis to Nashville in 2006. I’ve been a UU since 1999 and have always enjoyed the music programs at UU churches. Prior to joining FUUN, I attended the UU church in Indianapolis where I served as the church pianist and choir accompanist. At FUUN, I enjoy singing in the chamber choir and being an OWL facilitator. I have one son, Jaden, who enjoys the RE program and singing with the children’s choir. I’ve been married to my wife, Joell, for 10 years. I have been a music librarian for almost 20 years and I currently hold the position of Director of the Music Library at Vanderbilt University, Blair School of Music. I am looking forward to serving on the Parish Minister’s Advisory Committee.

I am serving my first year on the Parish Minister’s Advisory Committee and have agreed to act as secretary. I was born in Milwaukee, WI and moved to Nashville at 9 years of age. I was a Catholic for the first 27 years of my life. My husband Richard and I dedicated our sons at FUUN when the youngest was less than a year old. We have been members for 15 years. I have been co-chair of the fellowship committee, taught religious education classes, and been active in the room at the inn program. I am honored to be serving on this committee and hope that my participation is helpful to Gail as well as our church.
